As of tomorrow your first Drive Clean emissions test – to renew registration for most cars, vans, SUVs and light trucks – is free.

Vehicles that are seven years old and beyond need to pass an e-test before renewing registration and licence plates – and those that don’t pass will have to pay for any future re-test.

Vehicle owners who want a test outside of the regularly required examinations – will also have to pay.
