Parents are urging the Education Ministry to push for sweeping changes in the troubled York Region District School Board.
Ministry troubleshooters interviewed more than 125 parents, community members, students, current and former staff, trustees and more. They’ve developed a list of 7 recommendations including a call to fire the current board chair and hire an ombudsman to deal with the growing list of complaints.
The board has been under scrutiny this past year after concerns about how it handled racist and Islamophobic incidents.
The recommendations go to Ontario Education Minister Mitzie Hunter April 7th.
