Distracted driving continues to be the biggest cause of deadly accidents on Ontario’s highways; more than speeding, more than impaired driving and more than seat-belt related fatalities.

OPP officers laid more than 2400 distraction-related charges over March Break last week during their annual campaign.

And OPP investigated collisions that involved an inattentive driver have claimed 11 lives so far in 2017, almost triple the number of distracted driving deaths at the same time last year.

OPP officers are calling on passengers to help save lives by showing zero tolerance toward drivers who text or talk on a hand held smartphones.

OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt will have more to say about distracted driving when he joins Jane Brown today on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, heard weekdays between noon and 1pm.
