You may recall the news of 86 year old James Acker who was beaten in his room by a fellow resident at St. Joseph’s Villa Long Term Care home in Dundas, Ontario.
This morning at the Ontario Legislature, the NDP senior’s and long term care critic plans to stand up during question period and ask the governing Liberals about long term care safety and will highlight the assault of James Acker, who has dementia. MPP Teresa Armstrong will also speak to the media after question period.
Acker’s daughter, Tammy Carbino, told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer back on February 2nd, she was told by management at the home that a personal care worker saw the other resident enter her father’s room and begin beating her father and then called for the help of another PSW, at which point they both started screaming at the attacker. Carbino also says the story she received from management at St Joseph’s days after the attack was much different than what she was initially told by employees on the floor.
