The Screen Actors Guild singled out comedian Lily Tomlin for its lifetime achievement Postaward at night’s gala in Los Angeles.
Tomlin accepted with some sage advice for young actors, “Don’t leave home if you’re drunk.”
She also advised; don’t be anxious about missing an opportunity and then invoked the words of Henry David Thoreau in warning to beware of any enterprise which requires new clothing.
The 77-year-old veteran film and TV performer kept her remarks mostly politics-free in contrast to many other winners and presenters, but she did note that the decision to advance the Doomsday Clock to two and a half minutes before midnight, meant that the career-spanning recognition from The Screen Actor’s Guild “came just in the nick of time.”
