U OF T VIGIL FOR WOMEN VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE

There were dozens in attendance last night at the University f Toronto  commemorating the 14 women killed and 10 wounded in Marc Lepine’s mass shooting in Montreal, December 6, 1989.

The names of those victims were read out along with the the names of the 35 Ontario victims of fatal violence this past year.  Among those remembered was Dr. Elana Fric-Shamji who was killed last week.  Her neurosurgeon husband is facing a murder charge.

In the 27-years since the Montreal massacre more than 700 women have lost their lives to violence in Canada.
