Tonight’s vigil coincides with the 27th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre.
Fric Shamji was slain last week shortly after filing for divorce.  Her prominent neurosurgeon husband, has been charged with murder.
In 2005, while the couple was living in Ottawa, the accused in this case was charged with one count of assault and two counts of uttering threats.
The memorial for Dr Fric Shamji is occurring on the 27th anniversary of Marc Lapine’s shooting rampage at at the Ecole Polytechnic in Montreal that left 14 women dead and 10 others injured.  Lepine then killed himself, leaving behind a suicide note that blamed feminists for ruining his life.
Tonight’s vigil is expected to start around 6 pm.
