After years of education campaigns and stiffer and stiffer penalties, the message about impaired driving still isn’t getting through.

In the first 11 months of this year, police in Toronto and York Region have laid more impaired driving charges than in all of last year.
If you are charged with a first offense, you face a license suspension, a $1,000 fine, the installation of an Ignition Interlock Device for 9 months, attending the Ministry of Transportation “Back on Track” assessment program as well as massive car insurance increases and a criminal record.
