Ontario grandparents are looking for the same visitation rights as grandparents in six other Canadian provinces and Yukon.
Representatives of the Ontario chapters of three grandparent groups plan to rally at Queens Park at 11 o’clock this morning.
They want the governing Liberals to pass an amendment to the Ontario Children’s Law Reform Act. The amendment would allow grandparents access to their grandchildren in cases where the parents are separated, divorced or have died.
A news release from the groups says an estimated 300,000 children and 100,000 grandparents are affected.
This is the 7th time since 2005 the grandparents have come to Queen’s Park in an attempt to get an amendment to the bill.
