It’s being billed as the world’s largest one-day film festival.
National Canadian Film Day will be celebrated next year on April 19th – to honour Canada’s 150th birthday.
The federal and Ontario governments are coming up with funding to back the initiative – which is an official signature project of the country’s sesqui-centennial.
Festivities will include more than 600 community screenings across Canada.
The Toronto International Film Festival will also partner with the non-profit organization Reel Canada – to present 150 free screenings at various locations across the country.
Major broadcasters will also be airing nCanadian films on numerous channels and streaming platforms.
