Despite delays with the Presto Reader installation completion, the TTC is moving ahead with equipping all its subway platforms with Wi-Fi.
Spokesman Brad Ross calls it a a win – win situation. He says the company providing the WiFi is paying the TTC for the privilege of providing the service. When the contract expires in 20-years, the TTC will own the infrastructure.
The network, known as T-dot is being funded by advertising with installation expected to be completed by early next year. The TTC hopes to have Wi-Fi in the subway tunnels by 2019.
The platform installation is expected to be completed by early next year.
