A longtime Toronto city councillor and former budget committee chair, Shelley Carroll has announced that she’s seeking the Liberal nomination in the newly-formed provincial riding of Don Valley North.

Carroll has represented Ward 33 since 2003 and is currently the deputy speaker. She also sits on the Toronto Transit Commission, the Toronto Police Services Board and the city’s budget and economic development committees.

In a statement announcing her intention to seek the nomination, Carroll says it really came down to her desire to join a team that she believes has a “track record of investing in people.”

Carroll says she’ll make a formal announcement today. She will also join Jane Brown to talk about her decision on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer after the noon news.
