The premier’s privatization expert’s been asked to look at what might be next for eHealth, the controversial electronic health records keeping agency.
Health Minister Erick Hoskins is asking former TD Bank CEO Ed Clark to offer a value assessment of eHealth’s public and private assets.
With it’s 10-year mandate expiring the end of next year, the province wants Clark to suggest how best to maximize the value of these assets by improving how care’s delivered and the patient experience.
The health minister stresses protection of personal health information is paramount, adding the information and privacy commissioner will be kept in the loop throughout the review.
Asked if eHealth might be privatized, a spokesperson for Hoskins says ”absolutely not.”
Clark’s to report back before the end of December.
He headed the panel that recommended the selling of up to 60% of Hydro One and was also behind the expansion of beer and wine sales into supermarkets.
