It’s Blue Jays Day in Toronto!

Ahead of tonight’s winner-take-all wildcard game at Rogers Centre between the Jays and the Baltimore Orioles, the Blue Jays flag will be raised on the roof of Toronto City Hall. The ceremony will take place at noon and the Jays’ mascot ACE will do the honours.

Then tonight at 7:30, Mayor John Tory will kick off the viewing party as Nathan Phillips Square once again becomes the “Bird’s Nest” as it was last year during the playoff run. Upwards of a thousand fans are expected to arrive early to get a spot near the big screen to watch the Jays play. And the famed Toronto sign will be lit up in blue and white!

Expect some traffic congestion in the area of the Blue Jays game at Rogers Centre. A number of road closures will be in place at the end of the game to help pedestrians and motorists leave the area.

The following road closures will be in place tonight:

Blue Jays Way will have a partial closure for southbound traffic from Front Street West to Navy Warf.
Bremner Boulevard will have a partial closure for eastbound traffic from Spadina Avenue to Rees Street
Bremner Boulevard will be completely closed for eastbound traffic from Rees Street to Lower Simcoe Street
Bremner Boulevard will also have a full closure in place for westbound traffic from Lower Simcoe Street to Navy Wharf.

Toronto Police are advising motorists to avoid the area near the Rogers Centre during the game and use alternative routes.
