Saying the Independent Electricity System Operator’s planning outlook determined the province has a robust supply for the next decade, the Wynne Liberals are cancelling plans to sign contracts for more solar, wind and other renewable energy sources.

Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault says the decision’s expected to save Ontario up to $3.8-billion in costs from its 2013 long-term plan, as well as help keep about $2.45 a month from being tacked on your hydro bill.
Thibeault adds the government’s investments in the electricity system over the past decade mean the province has a ”strong supply of clean power.”
The minister adds he’s still looking at ways to reduce costs in the next long-term energy plan, that’s scheduled to come up next year.
