The Irish-born, London, Ontario-based author joins three other finalists for this year’s $100,000 award.
Montreal-born author Mona Awad’s debut 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl (Penguin Random House Canada) also received the $40,000 Amazon.ca First Novel Award in May.
Other works on the short list are Hamilton-based Gary Barwin for Yiddish for Pirates (Random House Canada); Montreal’s Catherine Leroux for The Party Wall – translated by Lazer Lederhendler (Biblioasis International Translation Series); and Zoe Whittall for The Best Kind of People (House of Anansi Press).
