It doesn’t open on Broadway until next spring but it’s already set a new Broadway record for highest first-day ticket sales.
A revival of “Hello Dolly”, which stars 70-year old Zoomer legend Bette Midler and former “Frasier” star David Hyde Pierce, took in more than $9 million the first day the tickets were on sale.
The producers say the combination of the show and Bette Midler has proven irresistible to theatre goers.
Previews begin March 15th. The show opens on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre in April.
