A man wanted in connection with bombings in New York City and New Jersey is in custody following a shootout with police in Linden, New Jersey.
He was found sleeping in the hallway of a bar.
Initially presumed to be homeless, police officers who responded to the call quickly realized it was 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Afghanistan with an address in nearby Elizabeth, New Jersey.
He pulled out a gun and fired at officers, hitting one in a bulletproof vest.
Rahami then started firing as he ran down the street but was wounded.
He was taken away in an ambulance.
Investigators regard him as the ”main guy” behind the blasts but plan to look into whether any others had a role or knowledge.
