An informal survey suggests in excess of 100 Canadians have taken advantage of the country’s new assisted dying law in the two months the legislation has been in force.
Right to die
According to CBC, the total number confirmed is 118 but it may well be quite a bit higher.  The federal government isn’t tracking the numbers yet and Quebec, which was the first Canadian Province to allow medically assisted death, is not providing data.
In provinces were numbers are available, Ontario tops the list 49,  British Columbia is   second at 46.
The federal government is looking at implementing an interim system to keep track of medically assisted death and will eventually have a permanent system in place to track the numbers.
