PEANUTS' LITTLE RED HAIRED GIRL DIES AT 86

The red-haired young woman, who formed the basis for Charles Schults’ beloved Peanuts’ cartoon character “The Little Red-Haired Girl”, has died at the age of 86……
LittleRedHairedGirlAccording to the Washington Post, Schultz dated Donna Wold for two years some 60-years ago and even proposed.  But just as the Little Red-Haired Girl got away from Charlie Brown, so too did Wold get away from Schulz.

Back then she known as Donna Johnson.  She and her husband Allan had four children and served as a foster mother to at least 40 more, many of whom she named after Peanuts characters.
Wold was only outed as the inspiration for the Little Red-Haired Girl in 1989 in the Schulz biography “Good Grief,”

Wold was a life long Minnesota resident who is survived by her husband, three daughters, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
