The union representing most workers at Canada Post has issued a 72-hour notice of job action as CUPW tries to reach an agreement with the Crown corporation.
In the notice sent to Canada Post, the union spells out what actions it’s planning but stops short of a full-blown strike.
CUPW national president Mike Palecek says the corporation forced the union’s hand by refusing to accept a request from the federal labour minister to keep talking with the help of a mediator.
But a spokesperson for the agency says that’s not the case.
The union’s strike mandate was set to expire at midnight tonight.
