A timely message for our American visitors.
You’re more than welcome to visit “our home and native land” – but please leave your guns at home, eh?
That’s the Canada Border Services Agency message – launching a firearms awareness campaign for U.S. travellers – reminding them that our gun laws are strict – and different from the U.S.
And failure to declare any firearm may lead to the seizure of the weapon, a penalty, or prosecution in court – and the owner may be denied entry into Canada.
The Agency says if Americans choose to travel with guns, the weapons must be declared at the first Canadian port of entry.
The CBCA says it siezed 163 firearms during over 100 incidents through crossing points including Windsor, Fort Erie and Niagara Falls – in the final six months of last year.
