Ontario drivers will soon be shelling out more – to renew their plates.
Next month, the annual sticker cost will increase to $120 in the southern Ontario region – and $60 in northern Ontario.
The sticker renewal charge has gone up by 62 per cent since 2011 in the south. Back then it was only $74.
Northern residents will see an increase of 46 per cent.
The Ministry of Transportation says the province has been increasing these fees in an effort to make sure Ontario’s roads, bridges and highways are safe – and in good repair for future generations.
Before the increase in 2012, licence plate sticker fees hadn’t increased since 1997.
