Significant rainfall is expected for Toronto – beginning overnight and ending Tuesday evening.
Environment Canada says the rain is expected to be “periodic in nature” – with significant breaks in the precipitation during the day Tuesday – but we may see heavy rainfall at times – and a few thunderstorms are likely.
Rainfall amounts are expected to be highly variable, with 20 to 40 mm likely. A few areas may even exceed 50 mm – where showers and thunderstorms are most prevalent.
The system responsible for this rainfall is a moisture-laden low pressure disturbance from Texas.
