More than 50 years after Cilla Black’s ”It’s For You,” reached number seven on the charts, we learn the story behind the song, written for her by Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
After Black passed away last year, her family was going through her belongings and found the original demo, featuring McCartney on vocals.
Black’s family took it to The Beatles Shop in Liverpool.
Store manager Stephen Bailey knew right away he had something special.
”I was shaking with excitement and speechless … apart from a few crackles, the quality is fine. It’s a wonderful recording.
The demo will now be auctioned off August 27 at the annual Liverpool Beatles Auction
