A report by HSBC suggests nearly half of pre-retirees in Canada have not started or are not currently saving for their life after work.

The global survey finds that one in five working-age Canadians plan to retire on money realized from downsizing or selling their home or a secondary property. However, the poll also suggests that Canadian retirees are among the “happiest” in the world with 72% reporting they are happy in retirement; second only to retirees in Mexico who came in at 80%.
