After a number of deaths and injuries, IKEA is recalling millions of chests and dressers around the world, including 6.6-million sold in Canada that might tip over and cause a serious injury or worse.
Some of the furniture in question belongs to the Swedish retailer’s popular Malm line.
IKEA’s urging customers to stop using the affected furniture and put them out of reach of children until it can be secured to a wall.
Those who cannot are advised to bring the furniture back to any IKEA for a refund.
Chests and dressers made between January 2002 and June 2016 are qualified for a full refund.
Furniture made before 2002 might be eligible for a partial store credit.
IKEA says the recall affects about half the models of chests it has sold over the years, but adds all products currently in stores and for sale online do fully meet the current standard.
