The City of Toronto has unveiled a pilot project which would see an overhaul of downtown King Street from Dufferin to Cherry in order to ease congestion.
Toronto’s Chief Planner says the idea is being driven by an increase of residents along the downtown artery. Jennifer Keesmatt says most people in the corridor are walking, bicycling or taking transit. Ideally, the overhaul would include bigger sidewalks, bike lanes and would limit vehicle traffic in certain areas.
The pilot project could get the green light next year after consultations through the summer and fall of this year.
