Thousands gathered on the lawn of Orlando’s main performing arts venue last night to pay tribute to the victims and offer support to the survivors of the Pulse nightclub massacre on Sunday.

It’s also the location of a memorial where flowers, candles and notes have been left for the 49 people who were killed. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer was among those who addressed the crowd.

“Tonight, we remain a city in pain. We are mourning and we are angry. To the families and friends of the victims, your city is with you and will continue to be with you as you contend with this unimaginable tragedy,” said Dyer.

Meantime in Los Angeles, Lady Gaga addressed mourners and took part in a reading of the names of the 49 victims.

“Let’s all today pledge an allegiance of love to them and to their families who are suffering so deeply,” said Lady Gaga.

The City of Orlando has released the names and ages of the 49 victims who were killed in a nightclub shooting. The list was periodically updated as those who died were identified and families and loved ones were notified. The city gave no additional information other than the names and ages.

There is word from the White House and the FBI, that 29 year old Omar Mateen, an American born Muslim, appears to have been a “homegrown extremist” who had touted support not just for the Islamic State terror group, but other terror groups that are enemies of ISIS.

And it seems Mateen was familiar with the gay nightclub where he launched his terror attack and hate crime. An employee at Pulse says he’d seen Mateen dozens of times at the club over a period of three years. A Pulse regular also says that Mateen messaged him on a gay dating app several times in the year before the attack. That picture contradicts accounts of his co-workers who said Mateen was known to frequently spew anti-gay remarks.

Organizers of Toronto’s Pride Parade on July 3rd say it will be dedicated to the victims of the Orlando shooting.

They will also be increasing their own security measures, a decision the board made hours after the Orlando massacre.
