DAVID C. ONLEY ACCESSIBILITY AWARDS HANDED OUT

Three people and eight organizations have been honoured with the David C. Onley Award for Leadership in Accessibility – which is named for Ontario’s 28th Lieutenant Governor.

Mark Wafer owns seven Tim Hortons locations in the Greater Toronto Area. He  received the Employee Engagement Award – for hiring more than 130 disabled people –  and promoting the business case for accessibility.

Linda Crabtree of St. Catharines received the Role Model Award – for her pioneering work to raise awareness of Charcot-Marie Tooth disease – and improve accessibility throughout the Niagara region.

Maayan Ziv of Richmond Hill received the Youth Leadership Award for her activism and social innovation – using crowd-sourcing to pinpoint the accessibility of locations on an interactive online map.
