The board’s passed three motions.
First it wants there to be interim rules until the Trudeau government introduces legislation to legalize and regulate marijuana which is expected in the spring of 2017.
The board also wants the medical officer of health to begin an educational campaign on the risks and benefits of the use of non-medicinal cannabis.
In addition, it believes the federal health minister should earmark some of the savings and tax revenue generated from legalization go toward low-income communities, especially those affected by the unintended consequences of legalization.
