How does it go?
It’s all in the timing?
A famous doctor’s procedure has saved another life, but this time he finally carried it out.
The Heimlich technique for dislodging something caught in your throat has been credited with saving untold number of lives around the world since it was invented in 1974.
Dr Heimlich
Just recently the retired chest surgeon finally used it himself at the retirement home in Cincinnati where he lives.
96-year-old Henry Heimlich had sat down to dinner when a woman at the table began choking on a piece of hamburger.
He immediately spun her around in her chair so he could get behind her and administer the familiar upward thrusts with a fist below the chest until it popped out and she could breathe again.
87-year-old Patty Ris, who’s new to the facility, wrote Heimlich a note, ”God put me in this seat next to you.”
Heimlich, who was widowed three years ago, had dinner with her the next evening.
