Justin Trudeau’s political honeymoon appears far from over.
A new Forum Research poll finds 48 percent of Canadians think the country is moving in “the right direction” compared with just 25 percent who took that position last summer.
Forum president Lorne Bozinoff says “the results show the government is still in the good books of voters, long after the traditional grace period would be over.”
But not everyone agrees. University of Toronto political science professor Nelson Wiseman says “the broad support for the federal Liberals is indeed a function of the honeymoon effect following their rise to power last October.” He says “the popularity of the Liberals is in the context of them not having to make any tough decisions yet.”
