You’ll have the chance to look inside the cells of one of Canada’s most infamous former prisons starting next month.
The Kingston Penitentiary closed in 2013 after almost 180 years.
It had previously offered tours on a limited basis in 2014, as part of a fundraising campaign for ‘Habitat for Humanity’ and the local United Way.
All approximately 18,000 tours sold out.
The decision to open the pen to public tours again from mid-June to late October is part of a long-term ”visioning exercise” for the former prison and nearby Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.
Part of the proceeds from the tours will go to youth initiatives in the area and local tourism and marketing initiatives.
