Toronto Mayor John Tory has outlined a four-point strategy to grow the city’s annual $1.5 billion dollar film industry.
Tory recently traveled to Los Angeles, where he met with 11 studios – to encourage them to expand their presence here.
Suggestions include: establishing a working group to provide consistent and streamlined support to the film and TV industry – finding more production space by identifying city-owned land and other assets that could be used  for in-demand studio facilities and downtown production parking – and creating more jobs with specialized film crew training.
The recommendations are in a staff report – that’ll go to the Economic Development Committee May 17th.
