A painting by Frida Kahlo is poised to set a new auction record for the Mexican artist’s work – at Christie’s sale of impressionist and modern art.

Two Nudes In The Forest (The Land Itself) is being offered this evening.

The work depicts two nude women in a dreamlike setting.

It was exhibited last year at the New York Botanical Garden – and last appeared at auction in 1989.

The auction record for Frida Kahlo is $5.6 million – and this painting has a pre-sale estimate of between $8 and $12 million.
