Canada’s senators have heard an emotional appeal to reject the Trudeau government’s medical assistance dying legislation the way it reads now.
It came from Maureen Taylor, an assisted dying advocate whose late husband Toronto Dr. Donald Low called for its legalization in a videotaped appeal just days before his death in September 2013.
Taylor says senators are the final hope of those suffering intolerably but would not qualify for an assisted death under the proposed new law.
She’s begging the upper house to insist on at least one amendment – delete the provision that reads a person’s natural death be ”reasonably foreseeable.”
The Supreme Court’s given Parliament until June 6th to have a law in place.
