Prince Harry says Toronto will soon play host to an event he started three years ago out of a desire to give back to fellow soldiers.
The 31-year-old said the Invictus Games, which he founded after his tour of duty in Afghanistan, honours his colleagues.
The Olympic-style sporting event for wounded soldiers, which will be held in Toronto in September 2017, will see troops from 16 countries taking part.
Harry was joined at today’s official Toronto games launch ceremony by the Canadian team that’s taking part in this year’s games in Orlando next week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Kathleen Wynne.
He also attended a sledge hockey exhibition at Ryerson University’s Mattamy Athletic Centre and will have a private meeting with Lieutenant-Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell.
