RARE ELLINGTON MEMORABILIA GOING TO AUCTION

On what would have been his 117th birthday, comes news that the white baby grand piano Jazz immortal Duke Ellington used to compose much of his music is going up for auction.

The piano is expected to sell for a much as $1 million and it’s just one of more than 250 pieces of Ellington memorabilia on the block.
Ellington’s tuxedos and dinner jackets with “Duke” written inside the pockets are up for sale as is a painting Ellington did of collaborator Billy Strayhorn which could go for $40,000.

The auction is scheduled for May 18th at the National Jazz Museum in New York.
