The Canada Council for the Arts is announcing a new strategic plan – and a special one-time $33.4 million creation fund called The New Chapter.
It’s open to artists and arts organizations – to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017.
The money will be earmarked for projects to be presented across the country and internationally through 2019 and beyond.
There is also funding for native peoples.
An additional $1.8 million will be invested in what is referred to as “reconciliation and indigenous arts initiatives.”
And a new digital strategy will help the professional arts sector use digital technologies – to create and to share work with  audiences in Canada and around the world.
The Trudeau government set aside $1.9 billion for arts and culture in the March federal budget.
