Being lonely might not be good for the heart.

A review of past studies finds an association between loneliness and an increased risk of coronary artery disease and stroke.

Other research demonstrated that it makes adults more likely to die younger … similar to the effect of obesity.

This new review analyzed results from 23 prior studies to determine whether feeling lonely or being isolated increased the risk of disease in high-income countries.

Poor social relationships were associated with a 29 per cent increase in the risk of heart disease and a 32 per cent increase in stroke.

You can read about the study in the journal, Heart.
