The way Andre Marin sees it the premier and her Liberals ”orchestrated” his removal as Ontario’s ombudsman.
Marin served for two, five-year terms until last year with Paul Dube eventually succeeding him.
As that second term was expiring and it appeared as if he would not be appointed to a third, Marin waged a Twitter campaign and decried what he viewed as a ”shambolic” hiring process.
He alleges he was fired without cause and without notice, adding two-years notice would have been ”reasonable” and is suing for two years of pay along with $3-million in damages.
Marin claims he was misled into thinking he would be reappointed and therefore failed to secure another job, made personal investments he would not have made otherwise and suffered public humiliation.
Two of the three defendants in the wrongful dismissal suit – the ombudsman’s office and legislature – have filed notices of intent to defend.
While notice has been given to the Ministry of the Attorney General, the premier’s office won’t comment.
