Lights at playhouses in London were dimmed in memory of Michael White – the producer behind ”The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and ”Monty Python and the Holy Grail”.
White apparently died of heart failure at the age of 80.
 Michael White
The Glasgow-born impresario produced his first show in his mid-20s, bringing the racy musical ”Oh! Calcutta!” to the London stage.
Other stage credits included the London premieres of ”A Chorus Line,” ” Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and ”The Rocky Horror Show.”
Films included the 1975 movie version of ”Rocky Horror” and ”Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
Monty Python star Eric Idle tweeted a tribute to White, whose nickname was ”Chalky”, ”R.I.P. Michael White.  Chalky was one of a kind and will be missed.”
He was the subject of a 2013 documentary The Last Impresario, which dubbed him ”the most famous man you’ve never heard of.”
It charted White’s life amongst celebrity royalty.
He received a lifetime achievement honour at the Olivier Awards in 2015.
