The Canadian effort to assert our Arctic sovereignty after the Second World War is explored and documented – in two new exhibits at military museums in Calgary.

The Cold Before the War features items and photographs from the collection of the University of Calgary’s Arctic Institute.

And Mapping a Cold War was inspired by Ottawa artist Leslie Reid’s father – who flew Arctic mapping missions with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Cold War.

The exhibits open today in Calgary.
