Talks will continue Saturday after a deadline came and went at 12:01 am Saturday between the city of Toronto and its inside workers.
CUPE local 79 said the two sides agreed to push back a deadline 24 hours in order to continue talks toward a deal.
Union president Tim Maguire says he thinks the two sides are still far apart on some issues but told reporters he would not direct his members to go on the picket lines unless talks broke down.
Mayor John Tory says he says there is a deal available at the bargaining table that is good for both the union, and the taxpayers.
