The leaders for the union representing the city of Toronto’s inside and outside employees have given the city a new offer in hopes of avoiding a strike or lockout by week’s end.
CUPE Local 416 leader Matt Alloway and Local 79 president Tim Maguire say they’ve withdrawn dozens of demands to get new contracts.
They’re seeking what’s called a ”modest” wage increase.
Alloway points out it’s in keeping with other agreed upon settlements with other city workers.
As of Friday, outside employees represented by Local 416 can legally strike or be locked out.
Inside workers represented by Local 79 are in the same position the next day.
