The protest against Uber that was planned for this weekend will not go ahead.
After meeting with several city councillors and representatives from the business community, organizer Paul Sekhon said disgruntled drivers realized their emotions got the better of them and will back off for now.

”We understand by doing a strike like this we would just cause a big mess for Toronto businesses and a big inconvenience for the public.”
Sekhon, head of the United Taxi Workers Association, estimates as many as 6,000 drivers would have taken part in the protest on a weekend when there’s the NBA All-Star Game and festivities, the Canadian International Auto Show and Sunday’s Valentine’s Day.
They have long argued Uber X drivers pose a threat to their livelihood and should be forced to follow the same law as cabbies.
A new bylaw’s being worked on and is expected to be done by March and presented to city council sometime this spring.
