CANADA'S TOP HEALTH OFFICIAL DOWNPLAYING ZIKA VIRUS THREAT

There are now four cases of the mosquito-borne Zika virus in Canada – two in B.C., one in Alberta and a newly disclosed case in Quebec.
All involved people who’d recently travelled to affected regions.
The country’s chief public health officer says thee threat to Canada is ”very, very low.”

Dr. Gregory Taylor says the mosquito that carries the virus is not established here and not adapted to our climate.
He’s advising women who are prefnant or plan on becoming so in the near future to consult a doctor before travelling to any of the regions.
Dr. Taylor adds the public health agency’s monitoring the situation as the virus spreads, particularly in South America.
