Those were the final words from almost 15-year old Rene-Charles Angelil for his father.
Rene Angelil and Celine Dion’s first son gave one of two eulogies at Angelil’s state funeral in Montreal and the Notre Dame Basilica.
About 2,000 national and international dignitaries along with members of the general public jammed the church to say goodbye to the man who is best known as the man who brought Celine Dion to the world.
Dion walked into the Basilica all in black with a veil, holding the hands of the couple’s twin 5-year-old boys.
While she did not sing, several of her songs were played over a loud speaker.
Mourners included Montreal mayor Denis Coderre, NDP leader Tom Mulcair, Quebec Premier Phillipe Couillard and former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.
He descried Angelil as a “terrific gentleman” who will be sorely missed.
The funeral was held in Montreal at the same church Angelil and Dion were married in, back in 1994.
Rene Angelil died last week after a battle with throat cancer.
