Drivers in much of southern and eastern Ontario are experiencing a slower commute this morning during a snowfall which is expected to bring between 5 and 10 centimetres of snow.

“We’ve just got to remind everyone to take it easy, give themselves a lot of time. We had a crash with a car involving a snowplow up on highway 7…that slows down the entire plowing and salting operations. You’ve got to be careful. When you see those flashing lights ahead of you, just let them do their job,” said OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt.

On City of Toronto streets, some 2100 workers are involved in clearing snow today.

There are no school related cancellations so far in the GTA. In the London, Ontario area, all school buses in Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties are cancelled.  School buses are also cancelled in North Wellington, Division 3.

Some flights at Pearson International Airport have been delayed or cancelled because of the winter weather. WestJet and Air Canada are advising passengers to check their flight status ahead of time.
